The 13th annual Surry Arts Council Summer Series at the Blackmon Amphitheatre kicks off with a weekend featuring two concerts.
On Friday, April 28, The Fantastic Shakers will take the stage and on Saturday, April 29, The Attractions Band will perform.
Both concerts are at 7:30 pm. Dairy Center and Shelton Vineyards will be on hand for both shows with hot dogs, snacks, and wine available for purchase.
Last year, more than 20,000 fans enjoyed listening, dancing and singing along to favorites such as Band of Oz, The Embers featuring Craig Woolard, Tams, Envision, Holiday Band, and The Legacy Motown Revue. All of these bands are returning this season.
Additions to the series this year include: The Extraordinaires, The Main Event Band, The Swashtones, Blackwater Rhythm & Blues Band, and Carribean Chillers. An additional offering this year is the 440th North Carolina Army National Guard Band on Monday, July 3, at 7 p.m.
Season Passes are on sale now for $110 plus tax. Children 12 and younger are admitted free when accompanied by an adult. The Summer Series runs through Sept. 21. In addition to Summer Series concerts, the Season Pass includes weekly WPAQ Merry-Go-Round broadcasts and Voice of the Blue Ridge concerts.
Summer Series brochures are available for pick up at the Surry Arts Council or the Historic Earle Theatre, or may be accessed online at www.surryarts.org.
