A cruise-in and swap meet, which has become a regular event at Veterans Memorial Park in Mount Airy, will take place this weekend.
On Friday, Saturday and Sunday Veterans Park will play host to the Chasing SS Cars Cruise-in and Swap Meet. The event takes place twice a year.
Erik Herdman, the event organizer who also organizes the Floyd Auto Fair and other swap meets in the area, said he has 70 to 80 vendors lined up for the swap meet portion of this weekend’s event, and on Saturday the park will play host to a cruise-in.
At past events, vendors have been on site selling everything from memorabilia and collectibles to engines and car parts.
The event runs from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. On Sunday doors also open at 8 a.m., though the event will wrap up at 2 p.m.
Saturday’s cruise-in will begin at 8 a.m. and end at 3 p.m. Awards will be given for cars in various categories, and more than 100 cars were on display at a prior swap meet in April of 2016.
Admission to the event is $5 per person for adults, and children 12 and under who enter with a paying adult get in for free.
