Surry County Sheriff’s Reports


• Edy Noe Gomez, 26, of Modern Lane, Dobson, was arrested March 11 by the Surry County Sheriff’s Office on a warrant for first-degree rape as issued by the Jonesville Police Department. He was confined in the Surry County Jail with no bond. He has a court date on May 3 in Yadkinville.

• Alexander Paul Crotts, 20, of Latin Trail, Mount Airy, was arrested March 14 for misdemeanor assault. The complainant is Aaron Ashton Acord of Siloam. He has a court date of April 7 in Dobson.

• Jasmine Nicole Jackson, 28, of American Lane, Mount Airy, was arrested March 15 in the Dobson courthouse on three charges of felony probation violations. She was placed under a $3,000 secured bond with a court appearance on March 23.

• Scott Douglas Spurlin, 53, of Spurlin Lane, Lowgap, was arrested March 15 for felony obtaining property by false pretense. The warrant is dated Dec. 16, with a complainant on Main Street in Dobson. Spurlin was placed on a $1,000 unsecured bond and has a court date of April 19.

• Leticia Lorenza Orozco, 22, of Main Street, Mount Airy, was arrested March 8 on five counts of failure to appear in court. She was placed under a $15,000 secured bond with a March 22 court date.

• Daniel Allen Hancock, 29, of Ryan Street, Dobson, was arrested March 14 for second-degree trespassing, a misdemeanor, by a complainant on Rockford Street in Mount Airy.

• Jeffrey Thomas Hardy, of Fontana Lane, Siloam, was arrested March 13 for second-degree trespassing, by a complainant on River Siloam Road, Siloam. He has a court appearance on March 24.

Incident Reports

• Billy Ray Smith, of Toms Creek Church Road, Pilot Mountain, reported March 12 that someone broke into the residence and entered. No property was reported missing, but there was damage to a $25 padlock.

• Roland Keith Brown, of Perch Road, Pinnacle, reported March 12 that someone walked into the residence and removed $120 in cash and three credit cards.

• Karen Susan Ayers, of Surry Gadsberry Road, Pilot Mountain, reported March 11 that her ATM card had been used to withdraw cash without her permission. She reported $300 taken. The location of the incident was Scenic Outlet Lane in Mount Airy.

• LC Transportation, Reeves Mill Road, Mount Airy, reported a theft on March 11. Reportedly taken from the business sometime since Feb. 25 were two impact drills valued at $900, a $1,500 diamond necklace, $500 cash, two Snap-On sockets worth $20, and a $250 air drill. The report lists the offender as a male in his mid-40s.

• Dobson Trucking, Prison Camp Road, Dobson, reported a breaking and entering and larceny from a vehicle on March 11. An unknown suspect broke into trucks and stole three CB radios.

• William Blake Matthews, on March 10 reported a larceny at his home on Delaware Avenue in Mount Airy. He said that someone removed two stereo speakers (valued $50) from his 2000 Harley Davidson motorcycle, causing damage to the bike. He also reported missing a $150 LED light controller, a $100 sound system amp and wire harness, and a $10 pair of sunglasses.

• Steven Ray Hawks, of Tolbert Road, Mount Airy, reported a breaking and entering and larceny on March 10. Reported missing were an Asus laptop valued at $400, a Compaq laptop ($100), a pair of silver cross earrings ($10) and two chain necklaces ($15).
