Sprayer calibration, welding classes offered

Surry Community College will offer a Sprayer Calibration workshop for vineyard, orchard, and farm owners on Friday, March 17 from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. in Room 113 of the Shelton-Badgett North Carolina Center for Viticulture & Enology, 630 S. Main St., Dobson.

This workshop will cover the calibration of air blast and boom sprayers to help improve pesticide application methods. Calibration is the accurate determination of the spray volume delivered by the sprayer and verification that the spray pattern is correct. A sprayer that is not properly calibrated may result in wasteful and excessive application of chemicals or reduce effectiveness due to under-application.

Advance registration is required for this free event; funding is provided through the Surry Skill-UP program. Call (336) 386-3618 for more information.
