Police reports


• A break-in of a city residence this week led to the theft of property valued at $450, according to Mount Airy Police Department reports. The crime occurred Sunday at the unsecured apartment of Brittany Deann Smith on Cherry Street, where a PlayStation 4 gaming system and controller were taken.

• Police were told Saturday that a fuel card of Seal Brothers Contracting Inc. had been used in an illegal manner by an unknown suspect who obtained automotive fuel at both WilcoHess and Sheetz on Rockford Street. The amount received was not disclosed.

• Tractor Supply on Rockford Street was the scene of a crime reported Friday in which a 10-foot section of alarm cable was cut in an attempt to steal several items outside the business which were secured by the cable. The damage was put at $100.

• Dante Colula Martinez, 34, of 3144 Old Highway 601, was arrested on violations of driving while impaired and driving while license revoked on June 7 after a wreck on U.S. 601 near Reeves Drive. Martinez, who was operating a 2014 Chrysler Town and Country, was confined in the Surry County Jail under a $2,000 secured bond and is scheduled to be in District Court on July 16.

• William Darrell Sisk, 18, of 454 Johnny Ayers Road, Pinnacle, is facing violations of driving while impaired, a provisional DWI offense, having an open container of alcohol and possession of a non-taxpaid alcoholic beverage, which were filed on Rockford Street at Durham Street on June 6 as the result of a traffic crash involving a 2002 Chevrolet S-10 pickup operated by Sisk. He was released on a written promise to appear in Surry District Court on July 28.

• A Big Tex trailer valued at $5,200 was discovered missing on June 5 from 237 Starlite Road, the address for Auto Supply Co. Inc. Two Wytheville, Virginia, residents are listed as the victims of the crime.

• Wendy Ann McCraw, 32, of 149 W. Crosswinds Court, was arrested as a fugitive from justice and a charge of assault with a deadly weapon — both of which had been filed in Patrick County, Virginia — after police encountered her on Cherry Street near South Main Street on June 4. McCraw was held in the Surry County Jail under an $11,000 secured bond.
