A local theater group is offering a “blitz” of events this weekend.
On Friday the Nonesuch Playmakers’ vocal quartet, the Treblemakers, will kick off a “Weekend Theater Blitz” with its musical revue “Feelin’ Groovy,” according to a press release offered by the local theater group.
The performance by Cindy Southern Marion, Shanna Hiatt Jones, Angela Llewellyn and Elizabeth Martin will include 30 pop songs from the 1960s. The two-hour performance will also feature go-go dancers and a tribute to the late David Bowie.
The show begins at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the L.H. Jones Community Resource Center auditorium.
Nonesuch co-founder Brack Llewellyn noted the performance took place in early March in King. However, Friday will be the first Mount Airy-area performance.
On Saturday and Sunday the group will perform “Random Acts of Laughter” at the Mount Airy Public Library.
Llewellyn described the performance as “an evening of original one-act comedies featuring 14 members of Nonesuch’s acting company.”
The three “Random Acts” include the short plays “The Latin Above the Lion” and “TEOTWAWKI” and a premiere for a new play named “Bestseller.” Each act runs about 30 minutes.
“Random Acts of Laughter” begins at 7 p.m. on Saturday and at 3 p.m. on Sunday at the library.
Though admission to the performances is free, donations are encouraged and will benefit the Mount Airy Friends of the Library organization.
Llewellyn warned seating for both events is limited.
