The 12th-annual Surry Arts Council Summer Series at the Blackmon Amphitheatre gets under way this week, with shows on both Thursday and Friday nights.
On Thursday The Embers featuring Craig Woolard will take the stage for a beach music concert. On Friday The Fantastic Shakers take the stage. Both concerts are set to begin at 7:30 pm.
Dairy Center and Shelton Vineyards will be on hand for both shows with hot dogs, snacks and wine available for purchase. Last year more than 16,000 fans enjoyed listening, dancing, and singing along to favorites such as Band of Oz, The Tams, The Entertainers and The Holiday Band. The 2016 Summer Series features all of those favorites along with many more.
Season Passes are on sale now for $110 plus tax. Children 12 and under are admitted free when accompanied by an adult. The Summer Series runs through Sept. 22. In addition to Summer Series concerts, the Season Pass includes weekly Merry-Go-Round broadcasts and monthly Voice of the Blue Ridge shows that occur year round.
Summer Series brochures are available for pick up at the Surry Arts Council, the Historic Earle Theatre or the Dairy Center, or may be accessed online at www.surryarts.org. Season Passes are available online at www.surryarts.org, at the Andy Griffith Playhouse or Museum at 218 Rockford St., or at the ticket gates at concerts prior to shows. Individual tickets for most shows are $11, tax included.
