A Mount Airy woman was been arrested in Carroll County, Virginia after a search of her vehicle discovered “crack” cocaine in Lambsburg, Virginia, according to law enforcement authorities there.
Devon Lona Lunn, 36, of Mount Airy, was charged in the case, according to Carroll County Sheriff J.B. Gardner.
The sheriff said the arrest was made on Sept. 29 after members of the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, along with members of the Twin County Drug Task Force, conducted a surveillance operation at Love’s Travel Center at Exit 1 off Interstate 77 after receiving reports of suspected drug activity in the parking lot area.
During the surveillance, a car was stopped when officers observed what appeared to be a drug transaction. Lunn allegedly was driving the car, according to the sheriff.
“A search of the car was conducted and a quantity of crack cocaine and cash were seized,” Gardner said. “Lunn was charged with possession with intent to sell a Schedule II drug and transporting one ounce or more of a Schedule II drug into the Commonwealth for sale.”
Lunn is being held in the New River Valley Regional Jail, without bond. Sheriff Gardner advised that this arrest came from information provided by concerned citizens who took the time to report activity that appeared to be drug related.
“The information helped deputies and officers narrow the time when drug activity was taking place,” Gardner said. “Any citizen with information of criminal activity is encouraged to contact the Sheriff’s Office at 276-728-4146.”
