Law enforcement officials interrupted the unpacking of a marijuana shipment at a Pinnacle residence on Friday, resulting in the arrests and charges filed against three people, according to a statement released by the Surry County Sheriff’s Office.
After receiving a tip the officers executed a search warrant at the residence of Jana Ann Whitaker, 28, on Pinnacle Hotel Road.
When officers entered the residence they located Stephanie Jean Brown, 30,and Thomas Lee Pardon III, 40, who lived with Whitaker at the residence, sitting at the kitchen table unpacking a shipment of marijuana which had just arrived from California, according to the statement.
During the search, officers seized two pounds of marijuana from the shipping box, several additional baggies containing marijuana in scattered locations around the residence, two plastic bags containing small quantities of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia including scales, smoking devices and storage containers.
Pardon was charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, possession to sell and deliver methamphetamine and maintaining a drug vehicle. He is in the custody of the Surry County Detention Center under a $20,000 bond.
Whitaker and Bond were charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and maintaining a drug dwelling. Placed under a $3,000 bond, Brown and Whitaker were released from the Surry County Detention Center.
A court date for all three was set for Sept. 23.
