We greet you in the name of the lord and savior Jesus Christ. I am truly honored to share the wonderful word with you. There is so much joy in the name of Jesus Christ. No matter what you are experiencing in life, Jesus Christ can make everything alright. Praise God!
We have problems and situations that we must endure on this journey, but remember God is forever faithful. Let us not become selfish and forget to be grateful for his goodness.
Once again we are celebrating Black History Month and along with that we are also observing the Holy Season (Lenten) a time of repentance. I’m sure everyone knows what repentance means: attrition, contriteness, and remorse, self- satisfaction, apologetic, regretful and sorrowful. Well that should be satisfactory to you.
Webster has many definitions but, the Bible gives us many scriptures concerning repentance. We can also be cursed for being hoarders. The Bible tells us in Proverbs: 11-23 the desires of the righteous is only good but expectation of the wicked is wrath. Proverbs 11-26: he that withholdeth corn the people shall curse him, but blessing shall be upon the head of him that selleth it. We have selfish possessiveness. In Isaiah: 5-8 it tells us, Woe unto them that join house to house, that lay field to field ,till there be no peace that they may be placed alone in the midst of the earth!
While celebrating Black History Month this year of 2016, we should be more united with one another. Oh I’m sure I will get feedback, but it’s ok. Truth is truth. Let us not blame others for our short comings. Get involved! Support those that labor among you. Please!
Have we become a selfish generation? We say oh I can’t get involved, I am too busy. Are you really? Are you that selfish? What if our forefathers took that same approach? My mother, the late Rosie L King Smith Reynolds, even in her illness, worked until God called her home. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. had a dream. He fulfilled his dream for equality, not just for the black race but for all mankind. Now we have other civil rights leaders that have taken the baton for equality.
The Bible says in Matthew 5: vs 42 Give to them that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee, turn not thou away. In the book of Matthew: 25 vs 43 I was a stranger and ye took me not! Sick and in prison and ye visited me not. In 2 Timothy: 3 vs 1-2 the bible says this know also that in the last days perilous times will come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to your parents, unthankful, unholy, lovers of money. These are good signs of being selfish.
Ask yourself: Have we become a selfish generation? Thank you again for allowing me to share this word with you. May God richly bless you!
