Walmart, bikers raise $2,600 for CMN
Staff report
The Mount Airy Walmart store joined with more than 100 motorcycle riders recently in a fundraiser for the Children's Miracle Network (CMN).
The effort, held June 28, brought 120 riders together with Walmart employees in an annual event designed to raise money for the organization.
CMN is a network of hospitals that specialize in treating children suffering from various health conditions.
The local effort raised $2,600, according to Sherrie Dehart, CMN coordinator for the Mount Airy Walmart store.
“All the money we raised will go toward the critical wing of Duke's Children's Hospital,” she said. “We had a good turnout, and did really well this year.”
The event included a poker run, concessions at the store, a contest with a 2008 Dyna Super Glide Harley Davidson as top price, and a donated performance by the local band Casino Cruze.
