Nicole Robertson and Michael Casstevens speak vows at New Hope Baptist Church

Ashley Nicole Robertson and Michael Asbury “Mac” Casstevens were married April 26 at 11 a.m. in vows performed in New Hope Baptist Church, Dobson. The Rev. Jonathan Barker officiated.


The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James E. Robertson, 750 Turner Mountain Road, Mount Airy. Her grandparents are Bobby and Juanita Easter and Jean and J.C. Robertson and her great-grandparents are Daisy Smith and Jesse Doss and Pearl Doss. She is an honor graduate from Surry Central High School, class of 2005. She has an Associates Degree in medical assisting from Surry Community College and is employed as a certified medical assistant at Blue Ridge Cardiology and Internal Medicine in Mount Airy.

The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Michael J. Casstevens, 722 Casstevens Road, Mount Airy. His grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Jack Casstevens, Mr. and Mrs. Nick Philson and Mrs. Mary White. He graduated from North Surry High School, class of 2002, and has an Associates Degree in fire protection technology from Forsyth Technical Community College. He will finish his Bachelors Degree in fire science management in May, 2009. He is employed with Winston-Salem Fire and Rescue as a full-time firefighter and is also a part-time emergency services instructor for Forsyth Tech and Surry Community College.

The wedding music was presented by Tiffany Casstevens, pianist, and Stephen and Brandi Robertson, vocalists.

The bride was given in marriage by her father and mother. She wore a formal gown of white taffeta designed by Private Label. A sweetheart cut strapless bodice featured shirred taffeta accented with silver embroidery and hand beading. A low waist led to an A-line skirt with a chapel-length train adorned with a row of covered buttons. Her headpiece was a crystal tiara with a single layer of illusion edged with satin cording. She carried a bouquet of roses with accents of Queen Ann's Lace.

Rachel Pace of Ararat was the matron of honor and Deborah Bullins, of Ararat, was the maid of honor. The bridesmaids were Kari Flippen of Mount Airy, Brandi Robertson of Dobson, sister-in-law of the bride, and Heather Easter of Mount Airy, cousin of the bride.

They wore gowns by Alexia in claret matte satin. The strapless fitted bodice lead to a low cut waist encrusted with silver beading.

The flower girl was Hailey Easter and the ring bearer was Wyatt Easter, both of Mount Airy. They are cousins of the bride.

The junior bridesmaid was Brittany Robertson of Lowgap, cousin of the bride, and junior groomsman was Brandon Casstevens of Mount Airy, cousin of the bridegroom.

The bridegroom's brother, Ricky Casstevens, and his father, Mike Casstevens, served as best men. The groomsmen were Greg Casstevens of Mount Airy, uncle of the bridegroom; Stephen Robertsson of Dobson, brother of the bride; and Chris Tilley of Mount airy.

The reception was hosted by family of the bridal couple in the fellowship hall of the church.

The newlyweds later departed on a wedding trip to Pigeon Forge, Tenn.

They will reside at 135 Sexton Road, Mount Airy.

The rehearsal dinner was catered by Kalamata's Mediterranean Grille and hosted by the parents of the bridegroom.
