The session for 3-5 year-olds will begin June 16 and run through June 19, daily from 9:30 am-12:30 pm. The 6-12 year old session will be held June 23 -June 26. All of the sessions are scheduled for the Andy Griffith Playhouse.
Participants will take part in a daily arts and crafts session with Kayla Ellis, drama and music on stage with Peter Holland and Luann Lovelace, and storytelling and entertainment with Jane Tesh.
All will gather for the Arts Alive Festival on Thursday evening, June 26. The annual Arts Alive Parade will begin at 5:15 p.m. at BB&T and end at the Andy Griffith Playhouse. The Dairy Center will be on hand with hot dogs and the trimmings at 5:30 p.m. along with crafts, music, and family fun. At 6:15 p.m. the participants will gather on the Andy Griffith Playhouse stage for their Arts Alive finale, which will be followed by a Magic Show with professional Magician, Ray Hardee.
A limited number of high school volunteers are needed to assist teachers in each session. Those interested are asked to go by the arts council and complete a volunteer application.
