Surry announces date for graduation and nurse pinning ceremony

DOBSON — Surry Community College will be holding its graduation ceremony this week, on Thursday at 7 p.m. at Peace Haven Baptist Church in Yadkinville. SCC President Dr. David Shockley will be delivering the commencement address to the 141 students who are expected to participate.

SCC’s Nursing Pinning Ceremony is scheduled for tonight at 7 p.m. at Peace Haven Baptist Church. The associate degree nursing graduates will receive their pins and diplomas at this time. These students will be eligible to sit for the national examination leading to licensure as a registered nurse.

The rising second-year nursing students will also be honored for completion of the first year of nursing school, which will be signified by the placement of the first stripe on their nursing cap. Nursing graduates have two stripes.
