Elizabeth Fawcett and Charles Smith get engaged

Mr. and Mrs. George Thomas Fawcett Jr. of Mount Airy announce the engagement of their daughter, Elizabeth Brower, to Charles Edward Smith II, son of Mrs. Barbara Ann Reinhardt and the late Mr. Charles Edward Smith Sr. of Grasonville, Maryland.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Thomas Fawcett Sr. of Mount Airy, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph William Cook of Charlotte.

She graduated from Mount Airy High School in 1998, and the School of Music at East Carolina University in 2002 with a bachelor of music degree in music therapy. She is the senior music therapist at UNC Health Care in Chapel Hill, and has a private practice, Tar Heel Music Therapy.

The prospective bridegroom is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Earl Howard Smith of Grasonville, Maryland, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Franklin Reinhardt of Glen Burnie, Maryland.

He graduated from Gather High School in 1989, the University of Florida in 1993 with a bachelor of arts in history, and San Francisco State University in 2005 with a masters of education in instructional technology. He is a functional technical coordinator at the Office of the Registrar at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill.

They plan to marry on Aug. 23 at 6 p.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church in Mount Airy.
