Brandy Leigh Simmons, of Winston-Salem, and Brent Alden Carter, of Oak Ridge, were married at 6 p.m. on March 21, 2014, at Shady Grove Wesleyan Church in Colfax. Nate Kingsbury officiated.
The bride’s parents are Jeannie Mathis Simmons from Mount Airy and the late Michael Franklin Simmons. Her grandparents are Pauline Freeman Mathis and Lonnie Leigh Mathis, Margaret Sumpter Simmons and the late Gideon Franklin Simmons.
She graduated from East Surry High School and from Forsyth Tech in Winston-Salem. She works at Novant Health as a MRI technologist.
The groom’s parents are Vernon and Kimberley Carter of Oak Ridge. His grandparents are J.C. and Joanne Williams of Oak Ridge, and the late Dorothy and Earl Carter of Winston-Salem.
He graduated from Northwest Guilford High School in Greensboro and works at Amanzi Marble and Granite in Kernersville.
The bride was given in marriage by her mother.
The bride’s gown was a white, strapless, short dress with white lace overlay.
The headband featured rhinestones.
The bouquet was made of hot pink-colored roses with white lilies.
The flower girl was Jenna Jefferson of Mount Airy.
The best man was Vernon Carter.
The groomsman was Garrett Carter.
Vernon and Kim Carter were the reception hosts.
The couple plan to honeymoon in Cancun, Mexico, in June.
Their new residence will be in Winston-Salem.
