Norman to head state board

Timothy S. Norman was recently named executive director of the State Board of Examiners of Electrical Contractors. He began his new duties on April 1.

Norman is a construction engineer and project monitor for the NC Department of Administration with more than 20 years of experience in the electrical and construction field. Previously he was a state electrical inspector for the NC Department of Administration, State Construction Office and also an electrical inspector for the NC Department of Insurance, Office of State Fire Marshal.

Norman holds an unlimited electrical contractor’s license which he has held since 1996. He is certified as a Level III Inspector for North Carolina in Building, Electrical, Mechanical and Plumbing. Norman has served as a part-time instructor with Surry Community College, teaching courses on the National Electrical Code. He is an active member of Haymore Memorial Baptist Church having served as a deacon, past chairman of deacons, property chairman, missions committee chairman and Baptist men’s director.

A graduate of SCC, he is married to April Norman and they have three children: Tyler, Leah, Adam and his fiancé June. They have three grandchildren: Jasper, Banks and Britton.
