PILOT MOUNTAIN — The Surry Home Educators boys basketball team beat Noble Academy 62-51 at home Tuesday.
The Runnin’ Patriots improved to 3-0 at the Armfield Civic Center.
Ethan Holt led a balanced scoring attack with 16 points as the Runnin’ Patriots recorded an 11-point victory over the visiting Knights from Greensboro.
Holt led four Patriots in double figures, as Nathaniel Goodman and P.J. Bunke each chipped in 12 points, and Jeremiah Simpson added 10. The Patriots were exceptional from the line, according to Coach Todd Gerber.
“We were over 80 percent from the line, which is more than I can ask for from a high school team,” he said. “We went deep into our bench and closed the deal in the end.”
Coach Gerber also praised his coaching staff, consisting of Bradley Holt, Paul Bunke and former player Nate Gerber.
“They were invaluable to me tonight. They made good rotations off the bench at the right time and made sure I had the information I needed. They did a great job; they are great guys to work with.”
Goodman once again led the Patriots on the boards as he grabbed 11 rebounds to log another double-double. Brett Lowell played very efficiently in the post for the Patriots with 8 points and 7 rebounds, while going a perfect 4-4 from the free throw line, as the home team capitalized on the visitors’ foul trouble late in the game.
Next Monday, Surry travels to Lexington to face Sheets Memorial Christian School. This date will include games for the JV and varsity boys and the varsity girls teams.
