DOBSON — Surry Central lost to West Stokes 44-7 in the last home football game.
Surry Central’s record moved to 5-6 overall and 2-3 after the conference loss.
Senior Kenyon Martin scored the only touchdown for the Golden Eagles in the opening of the third quarter.
Surry Central Coach Monty Southern called the touchdown a nice run from an explosive playmaker.
In the game, Martin and Reid Stanley did a great job on kick returns. Raymond Salazar got us good yards, said Southern.
The Golden Eagles celebrated senior night at the game. Senior football players are Reid Stanley, Raymond Salazar, Nathon Bautista, Nick Coe, Alex Hernandez, Cris Craddock, Tyler White, Zack Martin, Alex Murphy and Jason Barnes.
Also Dalton Holsclaw is a senior who was unable to participate this year, said Southern.
Overall, Southern said, the senior group has been a hard-working and close knit group of only 11.
“I am going to miss them quite a bit. This group was disappointed at the loss,” the coach said.
The team is holding out hope for a wildcard, said Southern, adding with luck on their side they may get one.
Southern said overall they felt good on offense and defense. He added, the Wildcats threw the ball so well.
They just outplayed the Eagles, and they looked like a good football team, said Southern.
