A light agenda faces the Surry County Board of Commissioners when it gathers Monday for the single meeting scheduled this month.
The meeting is set to get under way at 6 p.m. in the Commissioner’s Meeting Room at the Surry County Government Center in Dobson.
Following approval of the agenda and an open forum for members of the public to address the board, commissioners are set to hear from new Department of Transportation Board Member Jim Palermo.
Palermo, sworn in by Gov. Pat McCrory in April, is appearing before the board to introduce himself and address any transportation concerns brought by the board.
After Palermo’s introduction, the board is set to hear from county Tax Administrator Michael Hartgrove, who will present a proposed agreement between the county and Highland Mapping for online geographical information system (GIS) services.
“When this project is completed, the current online maps will be replaced with a more functional and user-friendly experience for all users,” he told the board.
The GIS system will allow online users to search county land records and mapping information.
The proposed cost to create the website is $10,000, with an additional $1,200 dollars a day for any on-site work that goes beyond two days. According to the proposed agreement, the county will pay $375 a month for site support.
Assistant County Manager for Budget and Finance will then come before the board to address a possible change in the company insuring the county.
