The Mount Airy Bears swept the court for a shutout victory in their last regular season match against the Vikings in an away match.

The Bears are tied with Bishop McGuinness in the Northwest 1A standings for first place. The Bears have a 9-1 conference record and registered their only conference loss against Bishop. They are 14-2 overall.

They will play Monday at East Surry against Bishop to determine seedings for the duel-team state playoffs, said Kniskern.

Kniskern said Abby Hagwood and Cheyenne Rhodes stepped up at the five and six position and did well. He said both have contributed all season. He said they came in solid in the midst of lots of injuries on the team each time they were asked.
