To the Mount Airy Professionals of Surry, which recently secured a $20,000 grant from the North Carolina Rural Center. This group is made up of local professionals working to make the community a stronger, more vibrant place that young people want stay in, or return to after receiving a formal higher education degree, which is good for the local culture and economy.
To Cross Creek Country Club, which has planned an Emergency Medical Services Appreciation Day for July 20. This is a day set aside for area EMS, fire fighters, and law enforcement to be able to go to the country club, along with their families, to enjoy free swimming and food and low-cost golfing. The country club is doing this as a token of appreciation to the local emergency services workers, and it is a nice gesture we would like to see other businesses emulate.
