Pritchard-Bien unite in marriage

Amanda Lynn “Mandy” Pritchard and Thomas Leigh Bien III were united in marriage during their 3 p.m. ceremony on June 22 at Apex United Methodist Church with the Rev. Gray Southern officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John R. Pritchard Jr. of Mount Airy. She is a graduate of Mount Airy High School and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Mrs. Bien teaches fourth grade at Kingswood Elementary in Cary.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas L. Bien Jr. of Greensboro. He is a graduate of Greensboro’s Grimsley High School and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Mr. Bien is a software engineer with IBM in the Research Triangle Park.

The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.

Casey Purdy of Apex, sister of the bride, was matron of honor. The bridesmaids were Julia Bien, sister of the groom, and Erin Ringrose, both of Greensboro.

Meredith Purdy and Eleanor Purdy, both nieces of the bride, were the flower girls.

Assisting as best man was Rex Lake of Berkeley, Calif. Groomsmen were Lateef Livers of Greensboro and Karl Hess of Falls Church, Va.

A program of wedding music was provided by Joette Winberry, organist, and Phil Herold, trumpeter.

Immediately following the ceremony, the bride’s parents entertained with a wedding reception at the church. Marilyn Wienand entertained at the harp.

On Friday, the groom’s parents hosted a dinner at Tyler’s Taproom in Apex immediately following the wedding rehearsal.

The couple will reside in Cary following their wedding trip to England, Scotland and Wales.
