The Salvation Army in Mount Airy is taking bids on a painting of Pilot Mountain donated by artist Doug Cave. The proceeds will be used to help defray expenses for a trip by ten local Salvation Army members to a conference in England to celebrate the army’s 150th anniversary.

The painting is an original and is signed by the artist. It measures around 29-1/2 inches wide 15-1/2 inches high and was framed at Talley’s Frame Shop in Mount Airy. The gold frame is four inches wide.

Organizers said the high bidder will be announced at the Salvation Army’s annual dinner at Cross Creek Country Club on May 13. Participants in the drawing do not need to be present at the meeting to bid. Written bids may be submitted with name, address and telephone number addressed to Salvation Army, P.O. Box 443, Mount Airy, NC 27030. In case of a tie, a winner will be drawn from the highest bids.
