And the rains came. Now let me tell you what happens when old folks check the rain gauge. They read the amount of rain, pour it out, replace the gauge and then forget how much rain they received. Does that sound familiar to anyone? Well, we have had plenty. And I do believe this is the first year I have seen cucumbers buried in the mud.

I have been sick about three weeks. Fever, sinus problems, sore throat, bronchial problems to name a few. It simply won’t go away. The doctor tried to help, but it seems to want to hang around. Had a friend once who told us when we had something like this ailment, it is called “epizudics.” Sounds like a good name to me.

Payge is happy to be home from the hospital. She had knee replacement surgery last week at Forsyth Hospital. I feel like there has been quite a bit of pain. Now she gets to enjoy those therapists who come by on occasion and bend and twist, jerk and tie knots in the leg and all that good stuff. Well, I wish her well.

Don Fulk will soon be leaving Forsyth. He has stayed his stay. He is receiving therapy following a stroke. And you know what eventually happens. They tell you that it is time to move one. We will be happy to welcome Don back to Surry County.

Folks in the community were sad to learn of the death of Mark Whitaker last week. Mark grew up in our area. He was the son of the late Willie and Linda Whitaker. He was young and had been in a nursing home in Elkin several years, suffering from a crippling disease. Mark is survived by his wife, two brothers and one sister.

Decie Bowman is back at CCC after spending a few days at Forsyth Hospital. We wish her well.

Ronald Bowman was back at church on Sunday. He must be feeling better.

Copeland Seniors enjoyed a covered-dish luncheon at their regular monthly meeting at the Copeland Ruritan Building recently. They meet on the second Wednesday of each month.

Our pastor’s brother, Dink, visits our church on occasion. Well, Sunday was a very special day for Dink, when the invitation was given he went forward and accepted Christ as his Savior. It was a special day for the pastor and congregation.
